This is where I am writing my short story. When I'm done i hope to have at least 50 pages. Its about werewolves and vampires. The Random Writings is supposed to help me write down my ideas and post my other writings. It might take several months for me to even get 10 pages of it onto here. - Scarlet E. Fox
*If the story gets really long I will add another page to the menu for more of it.
The Red Wolf* By Scarlet E. Fox -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The moon shined brightly through the clouds as I set out hunting for dinner. As I set out I felt the normal anticipation of finding some animal and chasing it until I could finally bring it down. It was my favorite thing to do. Sometimes I couldn't enjoy this pleasure because the animal gave up or was already injured when I came upon it. Tonight would be different though. I smelled no blood in the air so I knew that I would end up chasing down my dinner. The deer were quite easy to find this particular night because with it being winter they had to search longer to find food. Yet all the deer that I came upon that night had fawns with them. It would have been wrong to take away their mothers like that so that I could eat. I knew of the pain that it would cause because I had lost my own parents to a blood thirsty beast, a vampire, who was hunting also. I will not inflict that pain on to other like it was inflicted on to me. Finally I came upon a particularly old deer who still had some kick in it but was also nearing the end of its life. It meant that I would end its suffering and would get to participate in the chase that I enjoyed so much. When the deer realized that I was watching it, it took off like a lightning bolt. It was father than I had expected it to be, but that meant that I would have more fun. The path that it took was predictable because most deer took the same tactic when they were being chased by predators. Yet it knew that it wouldn't work because no matter what it did I was always right behind it. Finally it took a wrong turn and ended up in brush to thick for it to run through. That's when I made my move. It took only a second to snap its neck which meant instant death and no suffering. The night was really calm with out wind. It made for a great night of eating because I could here all the noises within miles of where I stood. There was no way I could be disturbed without knowing it. Suddenly, a bush rustled close to where I sat eating my catch from earlier that evening. This sound was not caused by any animal because I could smell none. In fact, I didn't smell anything at all so what exactly had made that sound. Of course it wasn't the wind because there was none tonight. The only other creatures that it could have been were another werewolf or a vampire. My thoughts leaned toward the later. All werewolves were taught at a young age what they smelled like and that they they made no sound when they moved. Not even when they brushed up against something. So was there a vampire near by? At the same moment that I asked myself this question something touched my shoulder. When I turned by head I saw a beautiful young woman with curly golden brown hair. In an instance I knew that she was a vampire from the ring that she wore on her right hand. It had the entwined snake symbol of the head vampire family which also meant that most likely she was a princess. All werewolves were forbidden to touch her lest they want to end their lives a few centuries early. |
